Tunku Omar Asraf has ten years of experience in regulatory, fintech, and private capital markets. His foray into the private capital market started as a founding director of Crowdo Malaysia. After that, he joined the Malaysia Digital Economic Development Corporation (MDEC), where he founded many entrepreneurial programs for startups focused on capacity and capability buildings with MDEC, one of which was featured in the World Economic Forum article. Following MDEC, he was appointed by Ministry of Finance to join Penjana Kapital (a Malaysian government agency) to play a pivotal role in launching and operating Malaysia's fund-of-fund program, funding 8 VC fund managers with RM750mil matching commitment. Penjana Kapital closed an aggregated fund size of RM1.3 billion from local and international investors. In addition, he sits on several investment committees at the venture capital funds and approved more than 47 investments as the Management Executive Committee member of Penjana Kapital, evaluating and screening more than 300 local and foreign companies. He also set up the first Venture Capital Talent program in Malaysia. He is also a corporate representative or Board Member for funds in Ejen2u, Qwork, and Madcash. Currently, he serves as Chairperson of Ecosystem Development Bureau at MVCA (Malaysian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association) and as an Advisor to Diet Ideas, a growing wellness tech company.
